NOTE: I did NOT receive this product for free or at a discount. My Apple Watch was a Christmas gift from my boyfriend. I’ve been wanting to review it, but I wanted to use it for a few months first to get a good sense of the product.

Now, onto the good stuff!
I was a senior in high school when the Apple Watch first hit the market. I’m a diehard Apple fan and I yearned to have one of these beauties on my wrist. I told my cousin, who was a high school Freshman at the time, that one day I would get an Apple Watch. He told me that I’m too poor and would never have one. :’)
I am a very lucky woman! All of 2016, I talked about the Apple Watch and my boyfriend bought me one. I am so thankful. Spoiler: This watch is AMAZING.
I’m not really a watch person, but man. This watch is so many things in one.

It has a lot of features:
- Splash Resistant (NOT waterproof)
- Speaker and Microphone
- Heart rate sensor, accelerometer, and gyroscope

- Up to 18 hours of battery life
- Comes with two band sizes (s/m and m/l)
- Can hold several hours of music. You can listen with bluetooth earbuds/headphones

Series 1 does not come with a wall adapter. I just charge my stuff with the USB ports on my laptop, so this isn’t an issue for me. You can always use the one from your phone, too.
It took me a while to figure out all the stuff about the watch (I’m still learning). However, I know a lot more than I did before.
One of my first thoughts was “Can I sleep in it?” It might sound silly, but this is an expensive watch! I was scared I would break it or something. I usually put it on the charger at night, but not always. I take naps with it on. It doesn’t hurt the watch at all. One important thing to note is that it does leave an imprint on your wrist though.
The Watch app for iPhone is how you personalize the watch. You can change the faces (see the pic below). There are plenty to choose, but you can also choose a photo from your camera roll, or set a slideshow of your ‘favorites’. This does drain your battery a little more (but not that much).
My first ‘face’ was Minnie Mouse and when you tap her she says “Good Morning, it’s 9 O’clock” or something similar depending on what time it was. My boyfriend got suuuuper annoyed because I spent the whole day clicking her. That ‘face’ is also available in Mickey Mouse. That one reallllly drains the battery. Maybe I just overused it….
The Watch app is also used to rearrange the apps. It’s annoying when they aren’t even, IMO. Then again, I do have some OCD Tendencies. From the Watch app, you also choose to install or uninstall certain apps. Like, I’ll uninstall Twitter because I don’t want notifications on my watch.
I love the camera app on the watch. You can put your phone somewhere across the room or in a place you can’t hold it. Then, you press the button on your watch. It countdowns and takes the photo. I used this at Christmas to take a photo with my boyfriend’s family and it turned out really well.
Another big feature is iMessage and taking phone calls on the watch. I take calls sometimes when I don’t have my phone in the same room. I have a lot of fun, too much really, using the iMessage app on the watch. You can reply in three ways: with pre-made responses, by using voice-to-text, and by drawing your message (it turns the scribbles into words.) I usually draw my messages because I don’t want people to look at me weird in public!
Overall, the main thing I use my watch for (aside from telling the time) is for fitness. Before I got the watch, I had no motivation to work out. I wanted to, but I didn’t. I’ve started working out more, eating healthier, and going to the gym. Crazy right? Not really.
There a couple different apps on the watch that track your fitness. There’s the Workout app and the Activity app. Activity is the main one, it also shows up as an app on your phone. It counts your steps, minutes of exercise, and how many hours of the day you stood for a minute. You get achievements when you close all the rings. It’s a lot of fun to close the rings!
You can share your progress with friends who have an Apple Watch. I share with one of my best friends. She doesn’t know it, but I make it a competition everyday and try to do better than her! That’s my secret to getting fit. It shows percentages. If you close all of the rings, you get 100%. If you close the rings and some, you can get higher percentages. I had 153% yesterday and she had 101%.
This post hasn’t covered everything about the Apple Watch, but I hope I was able to highlight some things for you. I would definitely recommend this watch to anyone. If you want to swim with it, buy the series 2.
