For my first game review for this blog, I thought I’d start with a game from one of my favorite franchises, Dragon Age!
I played Dragon Age: Origins around the time it was released in 2009, but I recently played it again. I’m thinking of having another go as we speak! Dragon Age: Origins is the game that first got me interested in RPG. BioWare’s been one of my favorite developers since.
If you haven’t played Dragon Age: Origins, I’m wondering where you’ve been for all this time! It’s from 2009 so the graphics aren’t amazing (they get better as the series goes on), but the game play and story are great. Depending on which character you pick, the story has slight differences tailored to you. It has several “origin” stories for the characters, hence the name. I’ve played all of them (there’s an achievement and its just fun).
Once you’ve gotten past the origin story and introduction to Ferelden and the plot, you can have a party of four (3 companions and you). Companions can be romanced (but some can only be romanced by certain character types, like human or elf.) Each of the companions has a unique personality and story. When on adventures, decisions you make affect your status with them. If they hate you too much, they can leave. If you max out their love for you, you can romance with them. I always fall into the trap of romancing Alistair (not sorry).
There are plenty of side quests, including companion side quests. Some of the companions are featured in later Dragon Age games, either by mention or appearance.
The console version of the game features a Mass Effect style radial menu. The open world isn’t massive, but it has quite a few locations. For the most part, you can complete quests in whatever order you want until you begin to enter the end game.
There are a few different endings, I won’t give details except that some involve living, whilst others involve dying.
Overall: Dragon Age: Origins is an amazing game and I will continue to play it and other Dragon Age series games. If you want a traditional RPG game with a great story, and some ability to affect outcomes, this is the game for you.

NOTE: I did NOT receive this product for free or at a discount. My Apple Watch was a Christmas gift from my boyfriend. I’ve been wanting to review it, but I wanted to use it for a few months first to get a good sense of the product.
Disclaimer: I’m not writing this post for any reason other than sharing my review of the Apple Watch Series 1. However, I do include affiliate links in order to help me pay for this blog.
Now, onto the good stuff!
I was a senior in high school when the Apple Watch first hit the market. I’m a diehard Apple fan and I yearned to have one of these beauties on my wrist. I told my cousin, who was a high school Freshman at the time, that one day I would get an Apple Watch. He told me that I’m too poor and would never have one. :’)
I am a very lucky woman! All of 2016, I talked about the Apple Watch and my boyfriend bought me one. I am so thankful. Spoiler: This watch is AMAZING.
I’m not really a watch person, but man. This watch is so many things in one.
Here’s the specs for my watch:
Color: Rose Gold
Works with iPhone 5 and up (iOS 10 or later)
It has a lot of features:
Splash Resistant (NOT waterproof)
Speaker and Microphone
Heart rate sensor, accelerometer, and gyroscope
Wi-fi and Bluetooth
Up to 18 hours of battery life
Comes with two band sizes (s/m and m/l)
Can hold several hours of music. You can listen with bluetooth earbuds/headphones
What’s in the box?
Sports Band (s/m and m/l)
Rose Gold Aluminum Case (this is the actual watch!)
1m Magnetic Charging Cable
Series 1 does not come with a wall adapter. I just charge my stuff with the USB ports on my laptop, so this isn’t an issue for me. You can always use the one from your phone, too.
It took me a while to figure out all the stuff about the watch (I’m still learning). However, I know a lot more than I did before.
One of my first thoughts was “Can I sleep in it?” It might sound silly, but this is an expensive watch! I was scared I would break it or something. I usually put it on the charger at night, but not always. I take naps with it on. It doesn’t hurt the watch at all. One important thing to note is that it does leave an imprint on your wrist though.
The Watch app for iPhone is how you personalize the watch. You can change the faces (see the pic below). There are plenty to choose, but you can also choose a photo from your camera roll, or set a slideshow of your ‘favorites’. This does drain your battery a little more (but not that much).
One of the Apple Watch Faces
My current Apple Watch Face
My first ‘face’ was Minnie Mouse and when you tap her she says “Good Morning, it’s 9 O’clock” or something similar depending on what time it was. My boyfriend got suuuuper annoyed because I spent the whole day clicking her. That ‘face’ is also available in Mickey Mouse. That one reallllly drains the battery. Maybe I just overused it….
The Watch app is also used to rearrange the apps. It’s annoying when they aren’t even, IMO. Then again, I do have some OCD Tendencies. From the Watch app, you also choose to install or uninstall certain apps. Like, I’ll uninstall Twitter because I don’t want notifications on my watch.
I love the camera app on the watch. You can put your phone somewhere across the room or in a place you can’t hold it. Then, you press the button on your watch. It countdowns and takes the photo. I used this at Christmas to take a photo with my boyfriend’s family and it turned out really well.
Another big feature is iMessage and taking phone calls on the watch. I take calls sometimes when I don’t have my phone in the same room. I have a lot of fun, too much really, using the iMessage app on the watch. You can reply in three ways: with pre-made responses, by using voice-to-text, and by drawing your message (it turns the scribbles into words.) I usually draw my messages because I don’t want people to look at me weird in public!
Overall, the main thing I use my watch for (aside from telling the time) is for fitness. Before I got the watch, I had no motivation to work out. I wanted to, but I didn’t. I’ve started working out more, eating healthier, and going to the gym. Crazy right? Not really.
There a couple different apps on the watch that track your fitness. There’s the Workout app and the Activity app. Activity is the main one, it also shows up as an app on your phone. It counts your steps, minutes of exercise, and how many hours of the day you stood for a minute. You get achievements when you close all the rings. It’s a lot of fun to close the rings!
You can share your progress with friends who have an Apple Watch. I share with one of my best friends. She doesn’t know it, but I make it a competition everyday and try to do better than her! That’s my secret to getting fit. It shows percentages. If you close all of the rings, you get 100%. If you close the rings and some, you can get higher percentages. I had 153% yesterday and she had 101%.
This post hasn’t covered everything about the Apple Watch, but I hope I was able to highlight some things for you. I would definitely recommend this watch to anyone. If you want to swim with it, buy the series 2.
There are tons of places to buy an Apple Watch, here are a few:
Hey everyone! I’ve been wanting to do another review for gaming but I wasn’t sure what to do. However, my boyfriend owns the Astro A40s with mixamp for Xbox One so I figured I could do a review on those. I’ve used his A40s before so this review is based on my experience and his. I interviewed him about his Astros while we played Black Ops III.
Disclaimer: My boyfriend paid full price for this gaming headset. I’m reviewing this because I think it would be nice to help other gamers make informed decisions. We are not receiving any kind of incentive for doing this review. However, the Amazon link in this article is an affiliate link. If you purchase through there, I will receive a small commission that helps pay for this site.
Me: How much did your Astro A40s cost?
Him: 80 Great British Pounds (GBP), 200 pounds with the mixamp
Me: How many gaming headsets have you owned overall? Not just Astros
Him: I’ve owned about 20 different ones.
Me: What brand do you consider the best in general for gaming?
Him: Astro is definitely the best.
When I was visiting my boyfriend, I played his Xbox One using the Astro A40s and the experience was great! The sound quality is honestly amazing and I really enjoyed how comfortable the headset was.
Here are some Pros about the A40s:
Holds well on your head
Soft Material on the inside, durable material on the outside
You can hear footsteps and other in-game noises (A MUST for Call of Duty)
Here are some Cons are the A40s:
The Price; even without the Mixamp these are on the high-end price point
Expensive to Repair
If worn for too long, it can irritate your head if you have sensitive head/scalp
If you’re a serious gamer, I would highly-recommend this headset. However, if you’re more of a casual gamer, it might be better to go for a cheaper headset, if you want to save money. If you’re buying this headset for a kid, I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who breaks things easily because this is a pricey headset.
Me: Sooooo, what’s the point of the mix amp? Like, what does it do? Is it good?
Him: Yeah, it’s great. It improves sound quality. There’s a bunch of different features like surround sound, adding more bass and adjusting the sound between the game and the chat to name a few.
Me: If someone could only buy one: a good controller or a good headset, which would you recommend?
Him: Definitely the headset. You don’t need an expensive controller to play well. It’s about finger movement. However, having a really good headset will improve anyone’s game skill.
Well, there you have it! Now I’m off to work on the Scuf Infinity Controller review…. 🙂
What headset do you have? Do you currently have Atros? Let me know below! Is there something you want me to review? Comment below!
I am NOT being compensated in any way for this review – i bought this product full price with my own money from elfcosmetics.com

I’ve had the e.l.f. Blemish Control Face Primer laying around for a while. Honestly, I paid no mind to. But girls, you know what it’s like to have your face breakout during that time of the month right? Well, I always get spots on my chin. I figured, hey, I might as well see if it works instead of let it waste away!
I have to say… it works AMAZING. I am so happy I decided to actually use it.
I started using it a few weeks ago when I had about three spots on my chin. I washed my face and put it on. When I woke up the next morning they were still there, but much less noticeable. They were gone in about three days. I put it on everyday and everynight. Not only does make my spots go away fast, it also softens my skin. I woke up this morning and I looked in the mirror and i was literally like “wow” my face was so bright and clear!
Here’s the PROS:
Clears up spots within a few days
Is not greasy
Doesn’t really have a smell (pro to me)
Has a nice consistency
Here’s the CONS:
Bottle is too small! It’s a stretch to make it last a month if you are using twice a day like me.
$6 for a really small bottle
This is just my opinion. Always proceed with caution, whether or not you have sensitive skin. Here is the link to the product: Blemish Primer.
Have you tried this product? Did it work for you? Let me know in the comments!
If you like this post, feel free to follow my blog (on the side bar). I’ll do a giveaway when I get another 500 followers.
Note: I did NOT receive this product for free or at a discount. I bought this full price on my own because I needed a new headset for gaming. I am doing this review to provide information for other consumers.
Disclaimer: I am using Amazon affiliate links. If you do decide to buy this product, the small amount of commission will help me pay for this blog and keep doing reviews to help others. If not, I completely understand. Either way, I hope this post helps you make a decision that’s right for you. The links to Turtle Beach and Best Buy are NOT affiliate links.
UPDATE: 4/15/2017. I still use these and they still work great! 🙂 Been over a year.
For three years, I used a different Turtle Beach headset. It was $60, had a tooooon of cords that constantly got tangles (which lead to it’s demise) but it was not a bad headset. I got it a few months after I started gaming with my Xbox 360.
But, the tangled cords sucked and pulled the wires to the point where they would not work. Now, I have a new Turtle Beach headset and I am playing on Xbox One. Onto the review!
Brand: Turtle Beach
40mm Neodymium speakers
Over-the-ear with synthetic leather
Noise isolation (I love this)
In-line remote to adjust sound and mute
Being the poor college student I am, I had to find an affordable gaming headset that could offer me:
Minimum cordage (is that a word?)
The ability to hear footsteps in Call Of Duty
A price less than $50
A brand that I trusted
Naturally, I looked to Amazon first. I started researching gaming headsets and stumbled upon the Recon 50x ones. After reading a lot of reviews and checking the price elsewhere, I decided to purchase them from Amazon. I have two-day shipping so that was a plus.
The current price is $30.99. View the product here. If I remember correctly, the price i paid was around $29 but I could be wrong.
Only ONE cord! The sole cord plugs directly into the Xbox One controller (or the adapter if you have the older controller version like me) This is great because I can sit on my lofted bed in my dorm and I don’t have any problems from the cord being plugged into the TV. This is also a plus because there are no wires to get tangled and pulled apart like my last Turtle Beach headset.
I can hear everything! I can hear the footsteps of my enemies (and loud teammates who don’t use dead silence) in Black Ops 3. I can watch Netflix without bothering my roommate. Of course, I can hear all kinds of sounds in my other games too! With my last headset, I was not able to hear footsteps or in-game sounds because I was missing some adapter I needed for my Xbox 360. With this headset, I don’t have to worry about an adapter or anything. This is my favorite feature.
The price is low. Compared to other headsets of equal/greater quality, this headset is a cheap price (but not cheap itself). I have a job but when I bought this headset, I did not so I was using what little money I had. Even now, it’s less than $50.
A brand that I trust. Since my previous gaming headset was Turtle Beach, I trust this brand. If you’re a casual gamer, I would definitely recommend Turtle Beach. While this headset isn’t nearly as expensive as the Astros my boyfriend (he’s a serious gamer) has, Turtle Beach does make more expensive headsets also, that meet Astros price and with similar quality.
Comfortable fit. This headset is very comfortable with cushioning over the ear pieces. But occasionally, it hasn’t happened but twice in 4-5 months, the headset pushes against my glasses which cause my outside, upper earlobe to ache a little. It’s not really that bad and once I adjust the headset, it’s perfectly fine. But I did want to put that in there in case any of you wear glasses.
Detachable microphone. I did not have a preference as to whether or not the microphone came off but it does on the Recon 50x. My last headset did not have a detachable microphone but I like it. I can eat my snacks without food getting on the microphone. I used to be a very social gamer but lately I don’t chat much so I like being able to take it out.The microphone is stiff at first and I was scared to break it but once you bend it, it’s fine.
The microphone is lenghty
Comes with a free sticker. I know this isn’t really important to most people but I love when companies give out free stickers, I collect them!
The glasses issue. I mentioned above a second ago. This really isn’t that big of a deal, if I happens a lot then I would be concerned but only twice doesn’t bother me. And it’s an easy fix.
Controller problem. Recently, I bought a wired controller from Game Stop. This is a newer version so it doesn’t need the adapter. The headset was working fine with the controller but randomly it stopped projecting sound. I honesty don’t know if it’s the controller or the headset but I am leaning toward the controller. The headset works perfect in my wireless controller that came with the Xbox. I just thought I would note it in case you have this controller.

I’m always looking for a new manicure so I was really excited with the opportunity to try some beautiful nails from imPRESS. Here are some facts:
Available at Walgreens for $7.99
No drying time and no mess
Simply peel-back adhesive and stick them on!
Safe on natural nails
Mega gel shine
Easy to apply
imPRESS sent me two packages of stick on nails to try. I was really excited because I never have time to paint my own nails. It was a hard decision to pick which ones I wanted to try first!
I chose the ones on the left, the nude colored nails with heart decals. The nude went with everything and the hearts added a bit of glam. I really liked how easy it was to put on the nails. The instructions included were great:
I used the prep pad before applying the nails as instructed and then used the nail file included to file some sharper parts of my nails. The nails are not long, they are only slightly taller than the natural nails so you don’t have to worry about them hindering your everyday activities and limiting what you can do with you nails.
Here are some things I liked about the nails:
Easy to apply
Not time consuming to apply
Directions were easy to understand and follow
A prep pad, nail file and extra nails/adhesives were included
Looked salon professional
Did not impair my ability to do things like test
No chipping or loss of color
Here’s what I didn’t like:
They started to fall off my nails after 2 days! I don’t think the adhesive was strong enough.
The 3D heart decals kept pulling my hair out and getting it stuck in between the nail and decal when i touched my hair.
Overall, I did like these nails but I don’t think they are the best on the market. Here is what I recommend the company do:
Update to a stronger adhesive
I did like nails and I did enjoy the end result. They looked great:
Would I recommend these nails?
At the price, I think these are great for short term events like weddings, proms or date nights. I don’t recommend these for long term based on my experience with how quickly they fell off. Overall, these are a great, affordable solution to getting your nails done at a salon!
Disclosure: I received this VoxBox from Influenster for free. I received this product from Sally Hansen for free in exchange for an honest review.
It took about 3 months for me to receive a VoxBox! I did snaps, made lists, referred people, wrote reviews.. what was I doing wrong? Nothing. One instagram user suggested that maybe it was my location-living in the middle of nowhere will do that to ya!
Now, on to the good stuff! This review is long overdue because I’ve been busy with my first semester of college but if you’re following me on instagram, you already knew I got my first VoxBox!
Trying to tan as a fair skinned girl can be hard, that’s why I was so excited when my Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs!
Here is a picture of my right leg with Airbrush Legs and my left leg without:
There were both pros and cons of this product.
The product was consistent
The product was not too dark for my skin color (fair/light). I didn’t look orange lol!
It was easy to apply (just rub it on)
This small bottle covered both my legs (front and back plus feet) with some left over
Won’t leave you looking orange
Available at local retailers near you, like walmart-$9.97
Inexpensive as opposed to getting a spray tan (imagine how long the bottle will last if the little one has enough for 2!)
While I did like this product, I won’t be buying it myself. Here’s why:
Stain easily (sheets, towels, clothes)
It was easy to apply but it was not easy to cover all of my legs by myself. It actually takes a lot more effort than I am personally willing to put in.
Overall, this is a great product. If you like to tan, can’t tan (like me) or get regular spray tans, this could be an affordable, satisfying option for you.
FTC: I received this product for free to review on Amazon. I am not required to write a blog post, I am doing this because I want to inform consumers. All opinions are my own. This post contains an affiliate link.
A few weeks ago I was emailed by “Hannah” from Lash Factory cosmetics. She inquired if I would like to review their fiber mascara. I agreed because I love makeup and had never tried fiber mascara. Before this email, I had never heard of Lash Factory Cosmetics.
If you’re an active instagrammer or makeup lover, I’m sure you have heard of Younique makeup. Here is a photo of what Younique’s fiber lash case and mascara look like:
And here is a photo of Lash Factory’s mascara & case:
Coincidence? There’s a possibility.. I don’t know for a fact but a lot of people are saying Lash Factory ripped off Younique, both with packaging and product. Anywho, onto the actual review.
When I was approached to review the Lash Factory Fiber Lashes, I was excited. And then I received the product. The directions were confusing.
They said to apply your regular mascara. Wait, so I have to apply a third party product first? What’s the point of this product
then? I was baffled. They don’t even refer to their product as mascara on the packaging or tube! In my original Amazon review, I wrote that this product was not mascara and that it was very misleading.
it wasn’t referenced as mascara on the packaging or tube itself
I had to apply a third party mascara
What happened next? The owner emailed me! She was very unhappy and said that I was hurting her business by LYING and saying it was not mascara. She claimed to own a small business. TIP: More often then not, companies claim to own a small business as to make reviewers feel bad. No matter what, be honest.
Whether she owns a small business or not, I wasn’t going to feel bad. If the packaging doesn’t call the product mascara, I won’t either. By becoming a reviewer, I agreed to be honest and fair. I’m here to help consumers make smart decisions, not throw their money away.
Back to the product. When I applied the “mascara” and then the fiber “mascara” this is what my lashes looked like:
as you can see, the fibers fell off onto my cheek. Every time I wiped, more fell. The product description actually emphasizes that it doesn’t flake.Uhm, no. I know you might think that I applied to much but I kept apply until you could tell that there were fibers. Aside from that, I could not leave the “mascara” on longer than five minutes because it causes a GREAT irritation to my eyes. My eyes started to water and itch SO bad. It was also challenging to remove. It doesn’t claim to be waterproof but it seemed to be while I was attempting to remove it.
I do not, by any means, have sensitive eyes. My eyes improve every year (according to my eye doctor) and I get Pond’s Cold Cleanser in my eye ALL the time by accident while removing makeup. Never bothers me. But this “mascara” is terrible.
Overall, here is what I didn’t like:
flakes (even though they claim it wont)
won’t wash off easily (even though they claim it will)
directions say don’t apply to bottom eyelashes (real safe mascara wouldn’t say this)
caused an unbearable eye irritation
costs way more than it’s value
owner was unhappy after asking me to write an honest review. Uhm, no. Here’s you honesty 🙂
it clumps (much easier than any other brand i’ve used)
Do you recommend Lash Factory Fiber Mascara?
No, I absolutely do NOT recommend this product to ANYONE. It is the worst eye makeup I have ever used. If you have money, RUN. It it is NO way worth $20! Get a couple E.l.f. mascaras or just ANYTHING but not this sorry excuse for makeup. If you have sensitive eyes, this is going to be a terrible nightmare for you.
Because the seller complained about my first Amazon review, I wrote a new one. The first review I gave 4 stars but now I gave 3 stars for the second one. The only reason it didn’t get one star was because
I actually did like the way it LOOKED
I’m not saying don’t try Fiber Lashes, I’m saying don’t try the Lash Factory Fiber Lashes. You’ll waste $20 and you could buy much better makeup for $20! But if you DO want to try them, click here to visit the Amazon page

FTC Disclosure: This is a sponsored post . I received the OxyRub Pain Relief for free from Healthy Directions through Brandbacker to review. All opinions are my own and based on my personal use with this product. All photos are my own. This post contains affiliate links.
What type of pain do you suffer from?
My family has a long history of health problems. Although I am a young college student, I suffer from knee pain, back pain and the beginnings of RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis). Often, I am riddled with a swollen knee, sharp pain in my fingers and awful back pain. When I was a young child, I broke my tailbone and I have suffered from daily back pain ever since. I can’t sit on hard surfaces or in certain positions. My back begs me to stay in bed.
What methods of pain relief have you use before?
Previous methods to relieve my pain include heat packs, IcyHot patches and Aleve. It has been a constant struggle to try and ease my pain. When I got the opportunity to review OxyRub, I was elated. And I still am.
I was a bit skeptical as to weather it would work after trying so many “solutions”. But it does work. Here are some awesome facts about OxyRub:
It has a nice smell but isn’t annoyingly strong like Icy Hot products
It only take a small amount to work
It does not burn or cause irritation (no redness)
Help dissolve arthritis, especially in knees and fingers
Helps relieve tense muscles
Its not greasy or messy
Works in minutes
Made in the USA
100% Money Back Guarantee
How did you use OxyRub?
The first day I used OxyRub was on my knee. It was swollen and hurt to move. Some nights I cannot bend my leg without a cry-worthy pain. When I applied Oxy Rub, my knee felt better in about 3 minutes. I honestly thought it was too good to be true. I waited to see if the pain would subside and then return but it has not returned yet! The next morning, I woke up with a stiff neck. I has slept incorrectly during the night, causing it to stiffen. It hurt to move my neck for half the day. I thought it would go away on it’s own but it did not. Finally, I applied OxyRub. Within 5 minutes, I could turn my neck without pain. Today, I have used OxyRub twice. I used it on my back because I was experiencing back pain. My back pain dissolved in 10 minutes. Just now I paused from typing and applied it to my arm because it has tensed up from the position. The pain literally disappeared on contact! My father was complaining of back pain about an hour ago so I suggested he try the OxyRub Pain Relief Cream. He rubbed it on his back and told me it didn’t hurt anymore about 10 minutes later. I honestly think it’s a miracle product. Below are some pictures of my knees. Can you tell which one swells?
Would you recommend OxyRub to someone else and why?
Yes, I would recommend OxyRub Pain Relief Cream to anyone suffering from arthritis, back pain, swollen or tense muscles and body parts and injured tailbones. I have tried every type of pain relief product you can think and OxyRub has helped me more than anything. I can’t and won’t try to guarantee that it will work for everyone but I think it’s worth a shot. It worked for me and it can very well work for others. If you find yourself in search of relief or have tried every pain relief product on the market, you should give OxyRub a chance.
Try it at a Discounted Price
I know it sounds hard to believe, I wouldn’t believe it either if I had never tried it. That’s why I want you to try it! Healthy Directions has been kind enough to provide me with a discount code for all my readers. You can use this code on Amazon for 20% off your first purchase! It expires 12/31/15 so make sure to use this year 🙂
